Baking Scratch-Made Cookies as Therapy: Learning to Serve Others with Joy

There's something therapeutic about mixing butter, sugar, and flour together. As the ingredients blend, I find a sense of peace that I dont often experience in the daily rush of life. More importantly, baking scratch-made cookies has taught me something deeper about myself - it's helping me learn what it means to truly serve others, with joy and a positive attitude.

Baking as a Path to Servitude

Over time, I've realized that baking fresh, scratch-made cookies is not just a creative outlet for me; it's becoming a way to practice serving others. For a long time, I've struggled with the idea of servitude. I'll want to help, but deep down, I found myself more focused on my own expectations or how I'd benefit in return.

Baking has slowly changed that. When I'm in the kitchen, rounding out cookie dough or watching cookies rise, I'm reminded that small acts of kindness - like gifting someone a freshly baked cookie - can have a profound impact. It's teaching me to serve without expecting anything in return. With each batch, I'm learning to put more love and care into what I do, focusing on how it can bring joy to others rather than what I get out of it.

Finding Joy in Serving Through Baking

Theres a special kind of fullfillment that comes from seeing how something as simple as a cookie gift can brighten someone's day. Whether it's surprising a neighbor with a freshly baked batch of cookies or leaving a freshly baked cookie on the counter for my husband, I'm learning that true servitude isn't about grand gestures; it's about finding joy in the little things that make a difference in someone else's life.

The more I serve through baking, the more joy I find in helping others. Baking for mental health and selflessness is changing how I view my relationships, both personal and professional. It's a journey of personal growth, and I'm grateful that baking has become my way of practicing that.

Journey in Progress

I am by no means where I want to be. But I sure am trying. I'm still learning what it means to serve others fully, without hesitation or expectation. Baking is helping me get there. It's a simple, joyful way to show love and care. Each new batch gives me an oppurtunity to practice. As I grow in this journey, I hope that The Batch's Bake can offer a little bit of the same joy and love to you.
